Choosing the Right Box Style
Choosing the right box style depends on your product size, weight, and shipping requirements. With so many box style options, it can be overwhelming to understand which style is right for your product. Our design team has the expertise to simplify the process and determine the ideal solution for your project. To help you get started, we have gathered some of the most common corrugated box styles and uses below.

RSC – Regular Slotted Container
RSC style boxes are the most used corrugated box style today due to their simplicity and affordability. With their easy, no-fuss assembly, RSC boxes offer one of the quickest and most convenient packaging options for any industry.

FOL – Full Overlap Container
FOL style boxes are ideal for heavier products that require added strength, cushioning, and stacking support during shipping and storage. Designed with extended outer flaps that fully overlap when closed, these corrugated boxes provide enhanced durability and edge protection—making them a reliable solution for manufacturing, automotive, electronics, warehousing, and e-commerce applications.

HSC – Half Slotted Container
HSC (Half Slotted Container) style boxes are similar to standard RSC boxes but feature one open side for easy access and visibility. Commonly used as protective sleeves, pallet covers, or display-ready packaging solutions that help stabilize products during storage and shipping. Their open design allows for quick product identification, making them ideal for logistics & distribution, electronics, retail, warehousing, and fulfillment operations.

Auto Bottom Boxes
Auto bottom boxes are primarily used for fast, secure, and automated packaging across industries like retail, food, and pharmaceuticals. These boxes feature interlocking flaps that automatically pop into place when expanded, eliminating the need for manual tape or adhesives.

Case Erector Boxes
Case erector boxes are automatically formed, high-quality, corrugated containers used primarily in manufacturing and distribution for product packaging, shipping, and storage. Case erector boxes are beneficial for high-volume packaging, production line efficiency, product protection, and customization.

Nuna Flap Boxes
Nuna flap boxes—also known as tablock boxes—are specialized corrugated containers designed to keep top flaps securely open and out of the way during filling, enhancing efficiency on automated packing lines and making manual loading easier. These boxes are frequently used for heavy products and deep packaging scenarios.

Mailer
Mailers, commonly referred to as “subscription-style boxes,” are seeing major growth thanks to the boom in e-commerce sales. Mailers offer a double layer of protection on the sides and bottom and offer opportunities for custom branding and design.

OPF – One Piece Folder
One Piece Folders are ideal for packaging shallow items like books, photos, and prints. An OPF features a flat bottom, two short flaps that create the sides, and two longer flaps that fold over to form the front, back, and top. OPF boxes have a flat bottom with two short flaps forming the sides and two longer, wider flaps that form the front, bag, and top. Some also refer to this as a “bookfold” style box.

Trays
Trays offer a clean, efficient solution for displaying and organizing smaller items. Trays offer an easy-fold design that provides a barrier to keep products organized and dry. This cost-effective option comes in a wide variety of sizes and styles.

Full Telescope or 2-Piece Tray
Full telescope boxes are a space-saving solution often used for clothing items or long, flat items that require extra cushioning and protection. This style typically provides a bottom tray with a lid that fits over the top.

Partitions
Partitions, also known as dividers, separate items within an outer box and are often used for glassware or other fragile products to keep them safe and secure.

Corrugated Pads
Corrugated pads or sheets are a versatile solution that provides cushioning, separation, and structural support within shipping boxes. Pads ensure secure transportation and help prevent damage during transit.
Choosing the Right Board and Flute
Board and flute selection will depend on what you plan to package or ship and how much your product weighs within the package, including other packing materials. Our packaging experts will help you determine what board test and flue combination will suit your project requirements.
