Choosing the Right Box Style
Choosing the right box style depends on your product size, weight, and shipping requirements. With so many box style options, it can be overwhelming to understand which style is right for your product. Our design team has the expertise to simplify the process and determine the ideal solution for your project. To help you get started, we have gathered some of the most common corrugated box styles and uses below.
RSC – Regular Slotted Container
RSC style boxes are the most used corrugated box style used today due to its simplicity and affordability. With their easy, no-fuss assembly, RSC boxes offer one of the quickest and most convenient packaging options.
FOL – Full Overlap Container
FOL style boxes are a great choice when you need extra cushioning for heavier items, especially for stacking. FOL boxes have extended outer flaps that almost completely overlap when closed and assembled.
HSC – Half Slotted Container
HSC style boxes are similar to RSC boxes, but with either the top or bottom left open and exposed. They create added protection by sliding over items or stabilizing products on a pallet, and their open top keeps items visible for instant identification.
Mailer
Mailers, commonly referred to as “subscription-style boxes,” are seeing major growth thanks to the boom in e-commerce sales. Mailers offer a double layer of protection on the sides and bottom and offer opportunities for custom branding and design.
OPF – One Piece Folder
One Piece Folders are ideal for packaging shallow items like books, photos, and prints. An OPF features a flat bottom, two short flaps that create the sides, and two longer flaps that fold over to form the front, back, and top. OPF boxes have a flat bottom with two short flaps forming the side and two longer, wider flaps that form the front, bag, and top. Some also refer to this as a “bookfold” style box.
